Sonoma Summer Solstice
Summertime here in Wine Country brings on the visitors who had not yet ascended upon this little town nestled in the ancient “Valley of the Moon” during the quiet, grayer, damper winter months. In fewer than four months, the backdrop has intensified, the landscape no longer barren. Fruit is heavy on the vine adorned by billows of chartreuse grape leaves, transporting us into a French Impressionist painting or a Tuscan movie set.
We are awarded with the summer season’s burst of Farmers’ Markets brimming with baby veggies, ripe stonefruit, grassy herbs, juicy berries, wild mushrooms, Quail, local trout – a virtual Cornucopia fit for a King! The glorious beauty of the Vines surrounds us, hypnotizes us and inspires us to find that perfect bottle of wine to accompany the perfect outdoor meal.
